How to do hard things

TL;DR: You need time and a mindset.

Stop binge drinking on the weekends

Sobriety is a decision to stop numbing and blaming away hard feelings. People often turn to alcohol for stress relief or emotional reasons because it can make them feel more relaxed or happy rather than dealing with their problems directly.

Stop drinking. Stop wasting time. Learn how to be sober around people while still having fun.

Stop being angry, entitled, and feeling like a victim

When we are angry, we tend to be more judgmental and selfish. These types of emotions are not empowering and make our lives harder. Instead, try practicing gratitude and being more kind towards others.

Being a victim is a way of life in today’s world where everyone is always fighting for their space on the pedestal. It’s time to stop seeing yourself as above or below anyone else in order to realize that you have opportunities that other people don’t even know about.

If you’re reading this, chances are you’re more privileged than 99% of this planet. Nobody owes you anything. You’re going to be OK.

Stop following others. Do your own thing.

I think it’s important for people to figure out what they actually want to do in life. This is why businesses need independent thinkers.

If you are still following someone else, then it means that you are not doing your own thing. This is a classic example of following the herd mentality. If you really want to make a difference in your life, don’t follow everyone else’s footsteps and do what brings you joy.

We are now in an era where everything is digitalized. This makes it easy for people to follow others because of the social media platforms that everyone uses. But by doing so, you’re often living someone else’s dream, not yours.

Stop chasing perfection

Perfectionism is a destructive concept that’s keeping you from achieving your dreams. It’s like saying that you won’t start until you’ve reached 100% completion. It’s a fallacy.

Perfectionism affects everyone differently and leads to different issues, depending on the person. The most common struggles are feeling like you can’t do anything right, not living up to what other people expect of you, and taking yourself too seriously.

In order to overcome perfectionism, we need to get rid of our fears and give ourselves permission to try new things and fail gracefully. There is no such thing as the perfect way to be human.

Don’t settle down once everything is stable

In life, we have a lot of moments that can make us question our purpose and what’s next. But don’t be discouraged. Just because you feel lost doesn’t mean there isn’t something out there for you. Sometimes all it takes is a small decision or change in perspective to get your mojo back and find your way again.

If you’re feeling lost and unsure of what’s next, it might be time for a change in perspective or even just some time away from the hustle-and-bustle of daily life to reflect, take stock of where you are right now, and what’s important for you next.

Start taking care of your physical self

Identify what your body needs like exercise, rest, and sleep. Listen to your body when it tells you something is wrong.

The body is a complex organism and you should invest time and effort to keep it in good shape. We need to take proper care of our bodies because they are an asset that is with us forever and, so far, can’t be replaced.

Our physical health is greatly impacted by the environment in which we live. We should be conscious of how our actions can impact our health as well as the environment around us. Take a walk once a day. Go into the woods if you can.

Start taking stress and anxiety seriously

Our society, and the people in it, have been so busy with work that we often forget to enjoy our lives. The phenomenon has led to a culture of stress and anxiety.

People who are prone to anxiety often end up wasting a lot of time. They overthink things and overanalyze their actions in order to find the perfect outcome that might not actually be possible. This strategy can lead to detrimental outcomes like depression or panic attacks.

If you struggle with stress and anxiety, I suggest talking to a therapist. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has done wonders for me. It provided me with tools like breathing exercises, muscle relaxation exercises, and reframing myautomatic thought patterns.

Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

It is okay to not be happy sometimes. It is okay to feel sad because that feeling can lead to a better solution. All of us go through difficult times in life and we should learn how to cope with them.

We tend to miss out on a lot when we are dwelling on our past and future. When we focus too much on what is not happening now, we get lost in regret. We were born to enjoy our lives. So we should make sure that we are living according to what makes us happy and not the other way around.

It’s okay if we want to give up on a certain work project because it’s not going anywhere or if the work doesn’t make us happy anymore. We shouldn’t feel guilty about putting our mental health first before everything else – even if that means quitting a job or finding another role that is more fulfilling for us. Sometimes we gotta say no to things too.
